The crane hook is the most commonly used lifting device in lifting operations, which bears all the load lifted. Once daily inspections are not carried out properly, problems such as damage or unstable fixation can easily lead to safety accidents.

1、 What are the types of hooks?

The classification of hooks is extremely broad. Overall, according to different manufacturing methods, it can be divided into forged hooks and laminated hooks. According to their different shapes, they can be divided into single hooks and double hooks.

Today, we will introduce the two most common types:

(1) Slice hook

Slice hooks are divided into single hooks and double hooks. This type of hook has a simple structure, reliable operation, and convenient maintenance. Single hooks are commonly used on casting cranes, while double hooks are commonly used in general-purpose cranes weighing over 100 tons.

(2) Forged hook

Forged hooks are divided into single hooks and double hooks. Because the force on a single hook may deviate, it is not as stable as the symmetrical force on a double hook. Therefore, small and medium-sized cranes with a weight of less than 75 tons often use a single hook. Cranes with a tonnage of over 75 tons often use double hooks.

2、 How to do a good job in daily maintenance of hooks?

The safety and stability of hooks play an important role in safe production. The using unit should regularly conduct daily safety inspections and maintenance on the hook. Generally speaking, the daily inspection and maintenance of hooks include the following:

(1) Clean the main body of the crane hook assembly with a non corrosive organic solvent, wipe it dry, and inspect it with a magnifying glass. If cracks are found, they should be replaced immediately and repair welding is not allowed. (2) Check the opening degree of the hook and the amount of wear on the dangerous section.

(3) Check whether the wear of the pulley groove and rim is uniform, whether the steel wire rope matches the groove, and whether the pulley is loose or shaking.

(4) Ensure that the rotating part of the hook rotates freely and the gap cannot be too large. If there is difficulty in rotation or jamming, check if the bearings or shaft sleeves are damaged or lack lubrication.

(5) Check for overload damage to the main hook.

(6) Check the parts such as the hook guard plate and crossbeam. If the guard plate is severely worn, it can be welded and re drilled. If replacing with new parts, it is necessary to ensure that the mechanical properties of the material meet the requirements.

(7) Check the anti decoupling device
