Supplying a 5T European Double Girder Bridge Crane to a UAE Client

Oct 18, 2024

In recent months, we've received numerous inquiries from countries in the Middle East, particularly from the UAE and Saudi Arabia. These markets have always been part of our strategic focus, and we believe they will continue to grow rapidly. As a result, we strive to establish strong partnerships with valuable clients in this region.

Recently, we were approached by a leading UAE company specializing in fire safety, life safety, and ICT solutions. The company was in the process of constructing a new facility to accommodate their expanding business. And needed a European double-girder bridge crane for material handling. The project timeline was set for 4-6 months, and the procurement process for the crane had begun.

The customer requires the crane to be used for lifting and moving heavy equipment. Such as diesel engines, water pumps, motors, etc. The crane is used for 8-10 hours a day and performs 10-15 lifting operations per hour. The crane would be installed on rails built by a contractor. Our scope of supply included the complete double girder bridge crane system, power supply, electrical system, and rails.

After receiving detailed factory drawings from the client, our technical engineers determined the crane's span to be 37.2 meters—quite large, which posed a challenge in terms of cost. We initially proposed dividing the crane into two single-girder cranes with additional columns to reduce the overall cost. However, the client informed us that adding columns would interfere with their material handling operations and that the building had been pre-designed for a European double-girder bridge crane.

Taking this into consideration, we proceeded with the original design and sent the client a detailed quotation and drawings. The client raised a few concerns, which we promptly addressed. We provided information on the weight of key components such as the main girder and end beams to ensure the building could handle the load. We also quoted installation guidance fees and mentioned our upcoming participation in a trade show in Saudi Arabia, expressing our interest in visiting them.

After addressing their concerns about warranty services and demonstrating our technical expertise, the client was satisfied and placed a $50,000 order for the double-girder bridge crane. We look forward to a successful installation and hope to build a long-term partnership with this valued client.
