With the development of energy, shipbuilding and military industry, the demand for high quality alloy steel plate is expanding, and the rolling process of steel ingot after soaking is also promoted. The ingot hot rolling process is mainly applied to the rolling production of thick plate and extra-thick plate (the maximum thickness is 500mm).Steel mills pour molten steel into dedicated ingot molds, which are cooled and demoulded into finished ingot products. The ingots are then sent to the soaking pit to be heated to the desired rolling temperature (or stowed first).The heated ingots are quickly hoisted to the ingot carrier and then fed into the primary roll pass (in special cases, the ingots are directly sent to the rolling roller pass) and into the subsequent rolling process.

As a result, the soaking-pit crane（clamping crane) has come into being. Soaking-pit crane（clamping crane) is special lifting equipment in rolling ingot soaking pit workshop , it is able to efficiently complete the cold steel ingot into soaking pit, and will complete the red-hot steel ingot heating took out and put into rolling roller, at the same time complete the soaking pit’s pit furnace slag, cleaning and ingot stacking, and the ground equipment, especially the overhaul and other items of the soaking pit lifting, etc.
