Spider cranes are widely used in narrow spaces such as factory workshops, commercial buildings, rooftops, railways, and power stations. Their versatility and cost-effectiveness make them a popular choice globally. Regular maintenance and proper care are crucial for ensuring these cranes perform at their best, extending their service life and reducing the risk of unexpected accidents. As winter approaches with colder temperatures, it’s essential to take extra precautions to ensure spider cranes operate smoothly and efficiently during the colder months. Here are some key winter usage tips for spider cranes:

Engine Care:
To prevent fuel-related issues like freezing during winter, it’s important to use the right diesel grade based on the temperature.
Temperatures ≥8°C: Use #5 diesel
Temperatures 4°C–8°C: Use #0 diesel
Temperatures -5°C–4°C: Use #(-10) diesel
Temperatures -14°C–(-5°C): Use #(-20) diesel
Temperatures -29°C–(-14°C): Use #(-35) diesel
Temperatures -44°C–(-29°C): Use #(-50) diesel

Hydraulic Oil:
Winter temperatures can affect the viscosity of hydraulic oil, impacting performance. Before the weather turns cold, replace the existing hydraulic fluid with anti-freezing hydraulic oil. It’s recommended to use low-temperature resistant hydraulic oil like HS-46 during the winter months to ensure smooth hydraulic system operation and prevent freezing.

Engine Oil:
Cold temperatures cause engine oil to thicken, which can make starting the engine difficult and increase wear on mechanical parts. For winter, choose 5W-30 engine oil to ensure proper engine function and reduce the risk of damage.

Cold Start Assistance:
Installing a cold-start auxiliary device, such as a cylinder heater, helps prevent engine damage by warming up the engine before use. This system ensures the engine runs smoothly in sub-zero temperatures.

Coolant:
To prevent freezing and potential engine damage, use a coolant rated HEC'-Ⅱ-45 when temperatures are below -20°C. This ensures the cooling system remains functional and prevents damage from frozen fluids.
